Welcome to Day 8
WYN: a wall or a counter or a pole, an elastic or a long sleeve sweater or a scarf
Today might be a loooot of information in a short time if this is all news to you. Do not be shy and re-watch the video as much as you need. You can also find full videos about absorption and adjusting the body inside of the frame on the platform (you have access to all the videos on the platform as long as you have a subscription membership!). And, of course, you can ask me questions about the material.
Again, I go quickly over things so you have the full understanding, but that will take more than 15 minutes of practice for it to be fully integrated in your body. Remember: theses drills are new tools that you will keep using after the challenge or so I hope! 😊

Welcome to Day 9
WYN: mat, towel, water, maybe a wall, socks if you are crazy
Wow we wow!!! You are doing so good committing to yourself and your dance growth. I am really happy to have you here. And I know this day is some people’s favorite and most people’s least favorite, but I know you can do it. Remember to listen to the variations.
Also, sorry, I had to re-do the full thing because my phone shut down. The good news is: if you push yourself, it is an amazing and efficient training and your back and shoulders will feel it. The bad news is: if you must re-do it twice in a row… you will suffer. Lolllll So sorry if I am not showing the top variations, if my demonstrations maybe are not the cleanest and the lighting is poor.
I hope you enjoy it and feel it as mush as I did (or a little bit less).

Welcome to Day 10
WYN: your head
This is one of my favorite one, because it is so simple, but it feels so weird. And when something feels weird, you can assume it is because you have not been doing it ever… or rarely. It is interesting how intelligent our body is and much motion we already have integrated in our bodies, but when we learn a new discipline, everything goes out the window: no idea what to do with my arms, my head, my legs. Give yourself and your body a little bit more credit, you’ve got this, you just haven’t thought of how to integrate it in your favorite dance yet!

Welcome to Day 11
WYN: blanket, mat or bed (if that’s not going to put you to sleep)
Ahhhhh… body awareness, probably one, if not the most, underrated tool for movement… for life. I feel like we hear more about awareness in the psychological, mental, social aspects of things. We know if we are aware of our luggage, trauma, qualities, histories we tell ourselves, it is going to be easier to do the work: how can I work on something I do not even know is there?
Well, surprise, surprise, it is the same when we work on our body movement. And yes, any kind of movement is therapy for the body and as everything is linked, for the mind. Sometimes I talk to some people and they tell me: I’m not spiritual, that’s all up there, airy, stuff. And I go: Do you breath? Do you eat? Do you go to the gym? Do you read? Do you dance? Are you a human? If yes, you are spiritual, maybe the gym is where you find you resources, time for yourself, process things… maybe it’s your shower time.
Anyway, I veered off far from the path. All that to say: if you know where your body is at, you can start working on it. If you don’t even know that your core is relaxed, how can you expect to engage it?
I hope you enjoy this short exercise… and me rambling about spirituality, path and all these things. 😉

Welcome to Day 12
WYN: pen, paper, comfortable sitting place and your map from last week
Alright beautiful people, I know it can be hard to motivate yourself to do the drill when it is not your favorite, but again, I promise it will help you so much, as much as you hate me now, you will love me later… especially when we come back from Covid and you have to dance to all these new songs you haven’t danced to before!
This week, we are completing our musical map with the accents we hear and would like to accent. We are not moving yet, but it is coming. If this is intense and new, try and re-listen to the song by yourself and see if you can hear all the accents we wrote down and count them. If that was easy, find other accents to mark and maybe even use a different song.
